Alaska
Stories on Tape
"Alaska Wildlife Stories" by Susan Adie, Nature's
Storyteller
This is a storytelling audio tape for anyone ages 5 to 105
who love listening to stories. While traveling in the arctic
and subarctic, Susan has met with native storytellers to
collect ancient myths to use when teaching about the wildlife
in one of the earth most amazing environments. This 45 minute
tape includes five stories. The Great Gift Exchange is an
Inuit tale that involves Walrus and Ptarmigan. The Great
Hunter is an Athabascan tale that brings a Loon into a helpful
role. Raven's Light is a common story told in almost all
Pacific Northwest Coast traditions. The Fight for a Wife
comes from the Aleut people and involves a young man's close
connection to a Beluga whale. How Puffin Got Her Colors,
is an original story of Susan's. (Copyright January 1997)
Alaska
Coloring Book
"Alaska Wildlife Stories" Coloring Book by Pam
Harder
This coloring book was lovingly created by the hands of
Pam Harder to accompany the above tape. Susan and Pam have
worked on many projects in the past but none as wonderful
as this one. Pam created a coloring page for each story
so that your children can color while they listen.
The facing page has factual information about the people
or the animals involved in the story. (copyright January
